I edited Rose's photo by playing with the brightness and the contrast to make the tree and the house to be visible as well her cat.

For the picture I changed the background to fit the current season of Fall. I was going to originally put mountains but then I didn't think it would really capture the mood for Fall.

This is the poem project. I picked one line in the poem which was "you were the shadow of a cloud crossing over a field of tulips" and I show this by using the smudge tool on the clouds to make them look more natural.

this link goes to a video that has 12 year olds talk about their ethnicity and what it's like to be apart of that ethnicity and how they feel. this video brakes my heart because 12 year olds are worried about being jumped by the police or laughed at because of what they eat. this is disgusting because 12 years old is a very young age for a kid to bethinking or experiencing racism

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPyPM25boh0
this video is about assumptions about muslims

This poster is a start of a video I will be making that has interviews with classmates of what they feel is an important issue of our time (immigration, racism, sexism, etc.)

December 4th Blog

The project I'm working on now is interviewing students of different backgrounds and asking them what is one issue they care about and how we can fix the issue. I mostly use the Nikon cameras, then dump the footage on the computer. I am working alone. I'm done editing the footage I currently have which is 2 students. I would have to have interviewed 4 more students. Edited the footage in imovie. By the end of Friday I am hoping to interview 4 more students and at least edited 2 out of the 4 interviews. I plan to complete this project by the 15th of this month.

December 12th Blog

I've finished editing 2student's interviews. Now I need to interview 1 group of 2 students. Then I'll be done with this project. After that, I plan on working with the laser cutter and 3D printer. Below are the interviews I've done so far

December 18th Blog

This is the week before Winter break. For the new year of 2018, I'm working on a brand new project. I've made a list of a couple of ideas/projects. I've been slacking in class during first trimester and the beginning of second trimester. For 2018 I'm looking forward to accomplishing projects once a month or less than that. These are some of the projects I'm looking forward to doing. . .
  • J marion sims statute and title coming down
  • Robert e lee statue being taken down by different ethnic groups

December 20th Blog

This is my project so far. I just need an interview from Joselyn and Isabella, edit then find a quote to match their topic of racism and I'll be all done with the project.

December 22nd Blog

I don't have an interview from Joselyn and Isabella. They've agreed to do one after Winter break. So after Winter break I'll get an interview from them, add it to the iMovie, then I'll be ready for the next project. I'll be ready for a new project by January 9th.

January 8th Blog

For this week I am going to get my interview from Jocelyn and Isabella add it to my collection of interviews and wait for Mrs. Kushner's class project next week.

January 16th Blog

My imovie will be focusing on this quote by Simon Sinek
Picture
This would be my opening statement in the beginning of the video: Children and teens today are the next generation of doctors, lawyers, politicians, educators, etc. We are paying attention to what’s going on in our nation. Issues that my peers talked about in my interviews were police brutality, beauty standards, and immigration. These are just some of the issues that are splitting our country in half. But no one asks about our opinions as youth. So please enjoy while us youth speak our minds.

January 19th Blog

I've gotten quotes for my interviews and made a poster in photoshop with a quote I will have my interview focus on and I've written my opening statement in the beginning of the video.

January 22nd Blog

By the end of this week I will be done with my movie. Then for the rest of the week I will be making posters of Black soldiers who fought during WW1 in honor of this years theme for Black history month: African Americans in Times of War since it's 100th anniversary of the end of WW1. I will put a picture of the soldier, underneath i'll put birth-death, where they fought, and how long they fought, how old they were when they fought, and if they were in the armHoward P. Perry, marines, etc.

imovie project update

I will be saying something at the end of the imovie to tie the ideas people said together
I won't be interviewing Joselyn and Isabella
I will be doing Taryn's interview again

My closing statement for my interviews

Children and teens today are the next generation of doctors, lawyers, politicians, educators, etc. We are paying attention to what’s going on in our nation. Issues that my peers talked about in their interviews were focused on racism. These are just some of the issues that are splitting our country in half. But no one asks about our opinions as youth. I wanted this movie to be a way for my classmates to talk about topics they cared about

My Black History Month project so far. I don't think that I'll continue this project because the American army has always caused harm to other countries out of ignorance. They also haven't done much for the Black community so I will b making a poster J Marion sims statute and title coming down. He was an American Gynecologist who experimented on slave women without anesthesia . He's called "the father of modern gynecology". This is a horrible and racist man who thinks Black people aren't human and more people need to be educated about this.

February 2nd Blog

I never got the chance to get an interview from Taryn because I was never able to get a camera. I was also working on a poster on photoshop but IT DIDN'T SAVE AND GOT DELETED!!!! I was going to show a group of Black women taking his statue down.

I'm finally done with my film and I'm so relieved! I wish it could've been more meaningful and I wish I could've interviewed more people. But this is the first time I make a film and interview people. I noticed in imovie that the text would move and that didn't look professional, so I typed what I needed to on photoshop and put it in the imovie. I'm glad it worked. I will want to do another setof interviews before the end of the year.

Blog Update Tri-3

Me and a couple other students are organizing a walk out March 14th to protest against gun violence. Me and Kaila are creating a logo for t-shirts and will be done by the 14th.

March 8th

Me and Kaila Williams and other 8th graders suggested a walk out for gun control. Kaila and her mom designed shirts, Vivian and Taryn made an imovie and interviewed students affected by gun violence who felt comfortable sharing their story. The walk out was March 14th and was successful. People made posters and people driving past honked and supported us. Making the shirts was stressful because we had two days to make 90 shirts. It was cool using a new tool where we had to peel the outline of the design then heated the design on the shirts. I enjoyed walking out and being apart of this project. I wanted to combine police brutality and the murders done by police against Black men with keeping schools safe since they are both technically gun violence. We couldn't be as political as we wanted but I'm still thankful that we got to walk out with the rest of the nation. I'm proud to tell people I was apart of this historical event.
