Welcome To Jacob's Page
In this picture, I drew a cloud, which arose from a sea. And it's story is told by the other clouds. And it tells basically a fairy tale of why clouds rain. I personally like black and white, and used mainly the colors black and white at different opacities to make the drawing and shadows
Cloud Project V1
In this picture I drew, I took the line(s) "Before you became a cloud, you were an ocean." I kind of took it out of context, but what I created was a picture about a rainstorm with a cloud casting the shadow of a person in a fetal position. However, if you look at the clouds around it, they'll tell you the story about how the ocean wanted became a cloud, and hated being a cloud, and so they came together to go back to an ocean. I mean for it to say, a bad picture only looks bad upfront, if you look behind a bad thing, there is something good, hence the smile on the shadow.
Flash Animation: The Masked Manager
In this animation, I drew a character I created, the masked manager, who uses masks to display emotion. I drew every frame, and used text to generate his 2nd mask. I hand drew the images and used a mix of hand drawing and the move tool to make the movements.
Flash Animation: Halloween Special.
This animation, I thought of anything I conceive as scary, and used flash's tools to make them, I used frame by frame animation to make it, and mainly used the paint brush for everything, but used the morph tool to stretch things out and squish them.
In this project, a classmate sent me a picture of fireworks going off. and I made myself a challenge. The challenge was to make something using pictures from my I-Pad only. I put Donkey Kong from my wallpaper as the fireworks, and put Noid(with the fat dog picture's head), Spiderman (which I put the mlg babies' eye on) and the poop spider, looking at the fireworks. I took each image and cut them up and put them in place
Me and Erin decided to do an art collaboration, she drew a lizard in photoshop, and used the basic drawing tools, and I drew on robot parts using the same tools, until the end, where I used burn to create shadows, and she used tools to create shading on the Lixard
Flash Animation: The Oracle
This is an animation of a character named the Oracle, I drew the frames by hand, and used basic tools to animate it. There is not much with this one, it is quite basic.
The Failed/Incomplete Projects
In these projects, I attempted to make something either for fun, or for a idea someone gave me, but I either lost intrest, or gave up
Flash Animation: In Another's Shoes [CANCELED]
Mrs. Kushner proposed the Idea of making an animation to put in for a contest. I decided to try it out, but I got sidetracked by another project that I wanted to do, and put it off. At first, I tried to animate it frame by frame, but I gave up and began to use tweens, but I had to have 4000 frames done within 120 minutes (Three periods/days), and ran out of time with less than a minute of animation, here's what I had done.
December 4th Blog
Right now Im doing a "Monster Mash" using Adobe Illustrator. It's where someone gives you some animals and you have to make them into a monster, the other person who is doing this with me is Erin E. Right now I'm editing and revising the drawings until I like it or I run out of time. By this Friday I hope to find a final drawing and have it colored in, which need to do to finish. I plan to have it done by the end of this week or sooner.
December 12th Blog Update
I continued working on the monster mash, I couldn't find a final work, and I got sidetracked by the "In Another's Shoes" project, which went far behind, and was very incomplete by the end. All the progress that I made I ultimately reverted back to where I started.
December 18th Blog Update
I have been focusing on finishing Monster mash so far, and I am close to finding a final edition.
January 8th Blog Update
I finally completed the monster mash project, which I call, The Marsun Skink, it is a combination of a Sun Conjure, a Margay, and a Brown Tailed Skink, I used basic coloring tools to draw and color it. The wood it stands on got colored in wrong, so I decided to make the log more squiggly and leave the lines to be a bit abstract.
So, there is this project we need to do, and I guess I should do some animations for it, flash more specifically. This week I've been working on a series of short and simple projects. After I finished the Marsun Skink, I created the image at the top of the screen, a hand doing a OK symbol. Then I created the symbol for PK I drew on paper in photoshop, as shown below. I've been doing short projects in preparation for the project.
Butterfly Update: Flapping animation.
This is my first part of that butterfly to eagle animation, I made it so it's a butterfly flapping, and I intend to continue this in the vain of it morphing into an eagle.
This week I have been refining and upgrading my butterfly animation so it morphs into an eagle, this is of course my first draft, but It's coming along nicely. I enjoy drawing each frame so it looks "nice" and I think it looks nice for my level of skill. It's still incomplete, but I am proud.
Today I have completed the final version of the first draft for the eagle to butterfly animation. This is actually my first animation with color in it. And I am quite proud of it. More is explained in the next post...
Last week, I completed the first draft of the butterfly to eagle animation. I learned a very useful tool in the program, Onion Skin, this allows me to see what I already did, and what I need to make, which is very useful. That's how I made the butterfly to eagle transition. I used the transform tool to morph the butterfly into the eagle, and transitioned it to the eagle. However, recently I did some research and learned some new techniques for animation, which I will attempt to use in a new animation.
The Anon(ymous) Project.
For the past month, Ramina, Erin, Kayla and I have been working on a really long, and hard project, the Animated intro to the school play, Anonymous. We split up the work, and concatenated them together with a voice track by Ms. Tempkin. I created scenes 1 and 5, which are below, and the whole animation, which I edited together, is also below.
The Editing process was short, but grueling, for I had to find every error and repair it. Ms. Kushner put in the original edit, as a template, and I followed it when adding the final versions of the animations. It taught me a lot about editing videos and lining up tracks.
After the first paragraph, ideas and solutions came very easy. This paragraph was much easier than the first, and was much quicker to produce. And was really fun.
The First paragraph was hard, the timing on the sign, and getting the background image to rotate, and learning new techniques was difficult. However, after a while, I got used to it, and it all came together.
Over the past week I have been experimenting with Tweens and making motion. I used shape tweens to change the sizes of things, and classic tweens to move stuff. I also realized, stretching images can be used to make the illusion of motion, which I used at the end. The things in the animation are based off the character Rhaast from League of Legends. I intend on using his design for other tests.
Coloring and Adding Sound
Over this week I have been experimenting with lip syncing and adding color. Skip to .11 secs to see what Ive done. I've been trying to aquire the sound file that lines up with the mouth, but oga files don't really... go into the editing software. I mainly used fill to color in, and tried to draw what mouths look like when they say what they say.
