My biggest accomplishments this year had been my association with the musical. I had put a lot of effort and my own time filming the many days leading up to thin order to help with the filming process, along with pictures, and the tickets. To me this was a big accomplishment because there was much work put into it and the whole thing turned out great. I'm proud of this because of the fact that that my own footage was put into the musical documentary, my pictures were used, and I was given the opportunity to film the live show. So to me my hard work paid off for such a big event for my last year her at Chute.
The most important things I learned in this class would have been commitment as well as the many skills that I have learned through having the resources being given to me. For me, I had been able to have so much creative freedom to do as I please, that I have been able to explore everything that I could have possible on photoshop, with my photography, video taking, and many other skills. So my skills had been one of the most important things I have learned along with commitment with my many projects that I have done.
My greatest contribution to the Advanced Media class was the musical like I had explained before mainly because of all the things that I had contributed to from the the help with the tickets for the show, filming the actual show, filming all the rehearsals and all the things that happened from the days leading up to the actual show, and of course helping out with pictures.
Something I wish I would have done if I had more time or did things differently would have been probably to finish up projects faster instead of procrastinating and to focus more on the things that I have put myself up to because with me when I work on something for way to long I begin to lose focus and interest in a sense. This causes me to finish projects very very late. Though they do get finished I wish I would have had better time management skills.
My favorite part about Advanced Media Arts class is the mere fact that we had so much freedom to do as we wished. I feel like the fact that we were able to let our creative minds free was a plus to what we have done since it just felt very achieving and great to know that we did the things that we did, for ourselves. I mean I was able to make Polaroids, many photoshop art projects, many collabs, characters, sceneries, shirt printing, 3D printing, and etc. The mere fact that such freedom was given, I feel like that had been my most favorite part about the class and this is what I feel set us a part from the many advanced classes.
Some things I would change about this class, or suggestions to make it better would be not to rush the many deadlines of the blog posts because to me everyone is in their own world in a sense in this class where they did what they want to do aka their projects. To me such things take time and a process and I feel like instead of posting over and over after new projects that people just save that for later when they don't anything to do and basically bring in a lot of the projects they have made into one whole blog post. At least, this is my suggestion and my opinion but yeah.
Here are some of the lovely projects that I have completed myself, during third trimester. This trimester I had been focused on photography along with a bit of photoshop and outside of Advanced Media Arts I have worked on gif/photo edits that I can't really show. I had taken various pictures of vibrant flowers near my home along with flowers that I have found on the way I walk to school. One the photos I have taken myself, I had made it into a polaroid as seen above. I had fun with getting close ups and these very artsy pictures. I had a lot of fun creating these polaroids and I had taken pictures of one of them while another was given to a lovely friend of mine, Ari. Now another thing Ari and I had done together was creating Adventure Time inspired drawings/characters. We ended up only creating one character due to the massive amount of work being put into it. She can made the actual character while I had colored, helped with the design, apparently i was the inspiration, and yeah. That was pretty fun to creating many ombres and junk. Finally, another somewhat project thing I've completed was printing on the advanced media arts logo onto a shirt with has very messy but at the same time I got a free shirt. So these are a few things I had finished.
American, born 1949
Untitled (fashion), 1982–84
This piece of art work that I see portrays a young looking woman with sunglasses that cover a lot of her face holding a soda can with a long straw upon her lips. The art work itself to me gives off a sophisticated Audrey Hepburn look and the piece itself gives off that old-school vintagey appeal to it. Though, I didn't go to the field trip, I can infer what this piece is about. Though it is merely a woman with the art piece saying fashion in parenthesis I believe this was to show the fashion of that time period. Based upon of what I have heard the artist was doing something about all these pictures were al fake and made for media in order to actually buy something. Like in this case, fashion. For me I feel like this makes a powerful fashion statement and overall it's just appealing especially with the darkness in her sunglasses making her seem like she staring right at you.
Currently I am working on many different projects in terms of photoshop, editing, photography. I have had many complete projects which I have collaborated with many other students in my class. In photoshop I think about the visuals of how my ombre effects flow to make nice backgrounds with brush, mixing, and airbrushing skills. I am trying improve visuals which I also do with edits. I do many aesthetic collages where I basically choose a color schemes and I find many appealing pictures bringing them together as well as editing pictures than I do like to make a nice overall visual effect which is what I even do with choosing gifs and etc. I am currently also doing photoshop with a friend of mine named Ari which we were making characters in an Adventure Time style. So basically we made this demon like character based off of Marceline and according to her based off of me as well. So currently I am working on using clipping layers, properly mixing colors, and etc. I am also working on Polaroid's. I am choosing to do a lot of sceneries and nature like pictures choosing which has the better visuals, focusing on what I want focused on pictures, which have a good burred out background, and etc. Overall, I go through a process of choosing things that i would like visually as well as getting other peoples opinions.
This trimester I have gotten to work on many different types of projects getting out of my comfort zone. So far since my 2nd trimester portfolio I have worked on many things from photoshop, 3D printing, doodling, becoming a critic for Emily, tracing, LTAB things, and finally I am currently working on Ari with doing Adventure Time versions of people. The one project I have totally completed so far has been my somewhat tumblr inspired tracing aesthetic. And basically all you do is simply get pictures of people, who for media, are known to be 'tumblr worthy.' In this case I had choosen a picture of two girls I knew about on social media and their names are Elizabeth jane Bishop and Joanna Kuchta. For this I had collaborated with the lovely Ari and so I took Elizabeth who is the one on the right and so Ari had taken Joanna who is on the right. First went through a process of tracing and then finally coloring the whole thing.
We used many different tools in order to get what we got as a result. We sadly had gotten frustrated with shading their skin tones so we just left it as it was. After this we had also gotten our this done there were also things with LTAb that we working on. Ari and I helped critic the LTAB chute documentary. We had also helped with pictures and so much more. I had also been working on doodles but as I see them as irrelevant to show them on the blog I decided. Nope. Y'all will not see any of them. Anyway besides that i have worked on 3D printing and down below is a picture of our result.
So yeah that is me being as ugly as ever and that is the finishing project of the 3D printing project. It was basically a red minecraft pixel heart.
Things I want to do til the end of this year is mostly photography and photoshop. So yeah. Specific project ideas haven't been thought out yet but soon I'll probably get inspiration out of something.
For the polaroid I still have no idea what my 2 pictures would be. But like for me being that I wasn't as interested before I still have to figure out what to do so yeah. My best work I would want in the YEA festival would be either my old pastel and night sceneries or the tracing project seen above.
So yeah this is the end of this blog. And see y'all next time.
(if I don't forget to update this blog again)
Okay so since I haven't updated my blog since like what January 25? Right? But even so I shall update my blog for February! Okay so since then i have been up to many projects and at the same time sadly I have been forced to pause many other projects as well. The reasoning to this has been the mere absence of a friend of mine whom I have been collaborating on in terms of the animations as well as voice acting. So unlike her arrival I had been working on many other projects such as editing pictures as you can see above. I have been using a specific website to edit my pictures to get this purple vintage look as well as a holga look as the effect is called. With that said I have edited my previous work and have taken pictures in order to edit my pictures. I have also been working on sceneries on photoshop and what I have done was that I remembered making a sunset pastel like scenery on photoshop and so as a practice that has been made onto a finished product recently was a different version of the sunset but with the moon at night with a blue and purple scheme. Of course as usual there has been more that I've gotten myself to do for this class. And being that there is the musical I have been contributing in many was if you wanna say it that way. I have worked on the Shrek Musical tickets which is the last picture that can be seen above this post and so I have worked on these pictures with my friend Fernanda and so I did a gradient, helped with the composition of it, and etc. Finally, after school I have been coming to rehearsals on my own time in order to take footage of what was going on from singing, dancing, acting, actual scenes, and stage crew as well since they are also apart of the the musical. So yeah this is what have been doing so far in February and yeah ♥
