Welcome to Tony's Page
My name is Tony L and I am a student at Chute Middle School. My favorite subject is media arts because I like working with computers and that is why I am in the advanced class. I am in 8th and my final year of middle school so I decided to make this year count by doing well in my classes.
Photoshop GIF Project
This project was made using tutorials from Robbie H. and he does tutorials that demonstrate different styles that can be used for photoshop. Sadly my other projects somehow got deleted from my computer so I used the project you see as my final. In this project I used contrast in the text, blur, and black and white as the background color. The contrast really stands out with the flower in the middle and the text that reads "for every dark night theres a brighter day". I chose that quote because it means a lot to me because when things start to fall apart, I think of that quote and it helps me get back on track. After I finished all of the project tutorials I then turned it into a gif to demonstrate each tutorial.
Spanish Project #1
This is my second project I made in this class. I used photoshop to trace the logos and numbers because I didn't want to mess up the project. I made this project for spanish class to express how I feel about baseball, specifically the Chicago White Sox. I used 5 layers for this project because each drawing is its own layer. I found the images on google, moved into photoshop, added a layer to trace, changed the opacity to make tracing easier, and then deleted the original drawing to make minor tweaks that were needed to each drawing. I used a blue outline on most of the numbers because I wanted them to stand out because those numbers were important players from the white sox, at least in my opinion. However the number 42 is not from the White Sox, its actually from the Brooklyn Dodgers, now the LA Dodgers, and that number belonged to Jackie Robinson. I incorporated that number because as a baseball player I feel like that number and the story behind it is important because the story of Jackie Robinson is one of triumph and determination which are some important parts ofbaseball.
Spanish Project #2
This project was also made to help me with spanish class. I used logos from Super Smash Bros, Watchdogs, Legend of Zelda, and Assassin's Creed to help me express how I feel about video games. Assassin's Creed and Legend of Zelda represent RPGs (Role Playing Games), Super Smash Bros and Watchdogs Represent action and fighting games.
Splatoon OC Project (scrapped ._.)
This is an update on the current project I am working on. I am making an OC (Original Character) in the Splatoon game series. So far I only have the Logo and eyes.
Tribute Project Update #1 (scrapped)
This is another update for my current projects. I gave up on the Splatoon oc project because I wasn't going anywhere with it and I wasn't making much progress with it. I decided to go back to my Spanish project for inspiration and what you see above is what it inspired me to do. I don't want to give to much info about it because I cannot fully explain what it is yet.
Tribute Project 1 Update #2 (scrapped)
Here is the second update to my current project. As you can see from the past update and the name of this current one, I've decided to call this my tribute project and this is a project to myself as a middle schooler at Chute. Im making this project because its going to remind me of how I was as a middle schooler and the most important aspecs of myself. I finished with the baseball part of it because baseball means a lot to me and that's not going to change anytime soon. Now im putting in some logos from record labels of my favorite artists. Hopefully you guys will enjoy my project once I finish.
These are my most recent carvey project. Its the Assassin's Creed: Origins logo.I made this because I wanted another decoration for my room and I am a big fan of Assassin's Creed. I first had to look for the logo on google and see if I had to do any editing to the logo so that it would carve 100% of it. I edited the design by taking it into photoshop and tracing over it in black so that it was a solid color. After photoshop I had to make more adjustments in easel inventables but that was only adjustments in size and depth. I had to make the depth 1/16 so that it would'nt carve all the way through the tile. The carving process took about 30 minuets but the carving time varies depending on the design. Once the carving process had finished I cleaned off th extra debree so that you could see the entire design.
Cloud Poem Project (scraped)
This was my cloud poem project. I tried and messed up on trying to draw what I saw from the poem Cloud. I didn't really know what else to do because I'm not very good at drawing landscaped to help get my ideas going because I'm better at drawing logos, however no logos or images came to mind except for the one you see above.
Advanced Media Arts Logo!!!
This is a logo Henry and I designed for Advanced Media Arts. We came up with the designed because Mrs. Kushner wanted some people to come up with a design that the class would vote on. I first looked on google images to find an eagle design that would fit the idea I had (which is somewhat of the final project). After Finding the eagle design I traced over it in dark grey because dark grey has a good contrast to a forest green and it matches the school sports uniforms. After finishing the design I wanted to have the eagle pop out by having a forest green shadow. I had to change the brush tool to a different brush that had a different effect to it. After Changing the brush, I lightly outlined the eagle with a spray paint tool to also help with contrast and because the lighter green complimented the forest green.
Christmas Project (December 4th update)
This is my current project. I am working on a Christmas design because I want to make gifts for some friends. I am currently working on putting snowflakes for the empty space around the tree. I plan to at least finish the design and/or use the laser cutter or carvey. To finish this I will have to first work in photoshop then move it to easel inventables to resize it onto a tile or the software for the laser cutter. I will probably be more likely to use the laser cutter because I haven't used it yet.
Christmas Project update #2 (December 18)
This is one of the final updates I will do for this project. I decided to change everything to black in the design on the left because I would also like to laser cut my design and in order to do that, the program for laser cutting only uses designs that are black and white. Currently (as in at the time i typed this) I am carving the design on a two color tile that is white on red. I Had to mess with the fonts for "Merry and "Christmas" because my original font wouldn't work for some reason so I had to play around with the different fonts in Easel Inventables. While I wass finalizing the design in Easel, I ran multiple simulations because I wanted to be very careful of the outcome because I am making gifts for some friends as I mentioned in the previous post above. I don't know exactly how many carvey projects I plan to make with this design but it will be at least 2 or 3. When I have an outcome for both projects (Laser cutter and Carvey machine) I will show both outcomes.
Finished Christmas Projects!!!
This is my finished Christmas project that I have been working on for a while now. I've been able to have two carvey outcomes and two laser cutter outcomes as of today (from when I posted this). I decided to have two different colors (red and green) because they were Christmas colors and I wanted to see how it would turn out and it turned out better than expected. I wanted to make a laser cut project because some of my friends favored the laser cutter and I wanted to see how one of my design experiments would turn out because I had many design fails during this process. After about a 20 minute cutting process for both cutting machines combined I finally finished my project.
Tribute Revival Update
This is a newer version of my tribute project from earlier this year. I decided to start over because my new ideas didn't quite work with the old ones. Im currently finishing the Houston Astros logo and hopefully people will enjoy it when I finish.
Tribute Revival Update 2
This is the second update to my project. I plan to have one side represent the part of me that is athletic and the other part that is musical with a Mexican flag in the background to represent my heritage. I also plan to have a quote in the background but I haven't decided on the quote yet.
January 12th Project Post
I've been interested in animation for a while wether it be flash animation or sfm. Although I would preferably use photoshop only because of the fact I already got used to how it works and it became the main source of all my projects and probably future project. I am also interested in filming in general, I've filmed home videos before and seen the process of filming except I don't really have much experience however that will not stop me. If I am unable to edit I wouldn't mind being part of the editing crew. (This was just a little bit about myself in terms of projects.)
DJ Experiment Project #1 (January 16, 2018)
I've been wanting to be a DJ for a while now, I think my "addiction" came up since I saw a friend of the family's equipment and it fascinated me and I always loved music so this would be a big step for me. Today (As in 1-16-17) I finally had the confidence to decide that it was time to share how far I came in terms of being a DJ. I remixed the songs Animals by Martin Garrix and Satisfaction by Benny Benassi (even though its blatantly obvious I focused more on Animals because I like that song more). I ended up getting a Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 for Christmas and my dreams became a reality. 'Turns out its a lot and I mean A LOT more complicated than it really is... Anyway, that's all I really have to share I will provide pictures in my Tribute Revival project which should be done by tomorrow or by the end of this week at the latest. I may or may not add more experiments so who knows. :)
Somewhat Finished Tribute Project
Im saying this is somewhat finished because I'm not quite sure about about the quote because after thinking about it, it doesnt quite fit with my idea so today (as in 1/22/18) I plan on thinking about a different quote.
Finished Tribute Project
This is my final tribute project. Basically what it explains is the two main parts to my personality which is athleticism and musical. The athleticism part is explained with the picture of myself in the center holding a baseball which represents the fact that I am a baseball player and big baseball fan. The two logos on the left are my favorite teams in the MLB, the Houston Astros and the Chicago White Sox. I grew up a Sox fan so naturally I will like them over any other team. The number 38 is of my favorite catcher, Omar Narvaez who plays for the White Sox. I chose that Number because I am a catcher like Omar Narvaez. I play similar to him in the sense that we both aren't very big or buff catchers but like Narvaez, I make up for that with speed and agility. The second number i chose is 27 which is the same number as Jose Altuve. Similar to Altuve, I have very high ambitions in baseball and always push myself harder. On he right are 3 brands that are associated with Dj's. Numark which is the brand near the top right manufactures mixers while Serato, the brand in the middle, is a program that is for the mixer which allows me to mix my music. (I haven't written any songs yet I mix the songs I downloaded) The record label Spinnin' Records is there because my favorite DJ, Martin Garrix, is with that label and the name itself describes the basics of being a dj.
Patches Tribute #1
Last week (happened on February 1st) I had to put down my guinea pig Patches. He meant so much to me and was the closest and bestest friend I ever had. I would come home from school, and do everything with him. I would binge watch my favorite tv series with him, listen to some of my favorite music, watch baseball... pretty much everything. I talked out my problems with him and he pretty much made life easier. So I made this short video as a tribute. Projects are gonna be very slow for a while since Im pretty tired (mentally) since a lot happened way to fast for me. Hopefully I have the same motivation i did earlier but for now Im just gonna do what I can.
Patches Tribute #2
This is my second and final tribute to Patches. I put in my favorite photos and last photos I have of him. I got him in January of 2013, since I don't know his exact birthdate I just wrote January 2013. I remember how much I grew attached to him when I first saw him at the pet store and he was so happy when he first came home. Patches began to popcorn, which is this thing guinea pigs do when they get happy and they begin to jump around. From that day on we became best friends and he supported me in everything I did even though he had no idea what it was but that didn't matter to me. I'm still sad about it and projects are still gonna be a bit slow.
Today I finally finished making my sweater for advanced media arts. The process was very long but very much worth it. I first had to cut out the letters to my last name and press them onto my hoodie. Once I finished that I used the silhouette to cut out the eagle design and then came the fun part...
